And what a way to do it.<BLOG_BREAK> Trying to take a new line down some rock drops, a moment of hesitation and the front wheel dropped over the step into a 'wheel size' hole and Russ was spat over the bars. With no time to choose a suitable landing spot Russ found himself taking a very close look at a possible fossil on a large rock. He then did an excellent impression of a Chelsea footballer by clutching his face and rolling around on the floor, the main difference being he was actually injured!
As with every real cyclist, Russ's first thought was for his bike but he needn't have worried as he had put his life at risk to protect his steed, which had just kindly turfed him off!
We all ran to his aid, let him recover a tad and then, when we realised there was no severe injury, began the p---s taking!
Russ is a hard nut to crack, literally, and despite Portlands best effort, he carried on the ride with maybe the lure of a hot chocolate at the Boat That Rocks as one of the main reasons to go on.
So Russ is back to his best but we would appreciate it if he didn't crash in such style!
We all hope he recovers soon and joins us back out on the trails, it wouldn't be the same without you!
